So the question was what the assessment criteria should be for beginners wanting to compete in the Freestyle-class (aerobatics flown to music) that we are organising for this summer.
First of all: What is the assessment criteria for non-beginners?
One option would be to have different classes, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, but I am not sure if this would work, as we don’t know how many is interested in this class.
WHO IS INTERESTED IN COMPETING? SPEAK UP!!!
After thinking about this subject, I remembered reading an article by Jason Noll about Freestyle-routines, and after digging out the article I found these points (judging criteria’s) that could be of interest:

Interesting to note is that there is no mentioning about the difficulty of the actual programme/sequence/manoeuvres. This means that someone could fly circuits for 3 minutes and still compete in the class. Obviously the score would be very low as it would be quite uninteresting and monotonous, but it also means that the division between beginners and non-beginners is not actually that clear. It is more of a continuous development in my eyes.
Also, it was mentioned in this article that there are NO points awarded for the WOW! factor, which I personally think is quite good as it might push the pilot over the edge and could result in unsafe flying.
So my conclusion is that we should follow those 4 points (or something similar) and judge from that.

Gaidu vietas un datuma piedāvājumu, lai var ielikt kalendārā. Principā katrs lidojošais Spilvē ar to arī nodarbojās, ka lido freestyle programmu. Tad paņēmam, uzrīkojam maāus! Bez īpašas megakrutās vertēšanas, lai vienkārši ar prieku pavadīt laiku!
Jā, nav problēmas!! Piedāvāju arī kā gandarījumu, lai uztaisītu foršu pārtiju ir uztaisīt kādu nelielu dalības maksu- tādējādi varam noīrēt kautkādu skaņas tehniku, lai galīgi nebūtu jāklausās no mašīnas rādžiņa, un kādu diplomiņu, medaļiņu cilvēku stimulēšanai. Es varētu palīdzēt arī kā tiesnesis. Manuprāt vajadzētu piesaistīt neatkarīgos tiesnešus, kas tiktiešām vērtēs uz feelingu. Tobiš nezinātājus. Esmu gatavs to darīt! Tik Nu par to mūziku gan neatteikšos no palīdzības! Manuprāt datums ir labs. Bet vajag uzrīkot visu potenciālo sacensību dalībnieku salidošanu uz lauka, un vēlmju apkopošanu. Al, you asked the question what the judging criteria should be for beginners, my answer was the best way I could find to try and explain what Freestyle is about. It was both an information source for people that might not be familiar to this class, and also as an idea of what we could include in the way we COULD judge the flying. Not the way we should.
I was only suggesting some guidelines to how we could draw up our own rules, thats all.
Almost feels like Im apologizing for suggesting we should have this competition and starting this thread...

Anyway, there was never a problem from my side, don't worry. My first post was just a kind of starting point, of course we should not treat it as a world-class competition! That would be silly! Still, I think those 4 points I posted could be applied to any competition in this class, not rigidly, but as ideas. To me, the points you suggested are very similar to the ones I posted, it is just that we are expressing ourselves differently. Isn't is great that we are not all the same in this world?!
it's completely ok! If we will get those type of competitions here it will be very nice by itself. If people really like it, next year i will try to organize Donatas Pauzuolis trip to Latvia as judge and specimen show. Simple let's do it.

Tu ko, kāda no skatītājiem... Par kādu attīstību tad var iet runa, ja 4,5 cilveki lido, 3 skatās, un par to vēl maksā. Ka dmums būs kārtīgi maāi ar vismaz 30-40 dalībniekiem- par kautko tādu varēs domāt. Par galdu- ??? Nekas par ēdamo jau netika nemaz domāts. Protams, ka kāda bufete jānoorganizē, bet tas jau nevienam nebūtu pa brīvu. Dalības maksas jāizkārto tā, lai pietiktu mūzikas īrei, un sīkajiem izdevumiem. Ne par kādu ''navaru'' nevar pat būt runa.
